Cllr. Steve Lloyd-JanesCllr. Steve Lloyd-Janes

Steve has represented Hendy as a community councillor on Llanedi Community Council since 2004 and also represents the council as a member of the Hendy School Govenoring Body. Steve is currently the secretary of the Hendy Pool and Parks Committee.

During the 2008 local elections, Steve was elected as County Councillor for Hendy and re-elected to the community council.

Steve is an active member of USDAW since 1989 and is currently the Llanelli Usdaw Union Branch Secretary. He his a regular organiser and participant of Usdaw campaigns in the Llanelli area and often appears in the quarterly magazine that gets published and sent to Usdaw Members.

Additionally, Steve is involved in the Llanelli Citizens' Advice Bureau, a member of the Pontarddulais and Hendy District Carnival Committee and sits on the Mid and West Wales Fire Authority.

Councillor's plans to restore Hendy Library

Councillor Steve Lloyd-Janes invited council officers to Hendy recently to consider options for re-opening the library. Steve proposed re-opening Hendy Library as part of a centre for community groups and activities. Steve has already identified grants that could fund these plans and is looking into potential locations.

Cricket pitch flooding to be tackled

Nia Griffith MP joins campaign for Zebra crossing

At a recent site meeting on the Fforest road it came to light that Swansea City Council had not consulted with Carmarthen County Highways Department about a part of a planning application with conditions to alter the junction at the Black Horse with the introduction of a new roundabout. This design would mean that the current zebra crossing would have to be moved.

At the bottom of the Park, work has already started on new gates and restoring the war memorial plaque in the pillar. Recently, the County Council erected a steel set of goal posts in the park for youngsters to play football.

Playtime rules for Hendy kids

Hendy primary school will gain a new soft playing area. When Welsh Water submitted a planning application Hendy's Cllr. Steve Lloyd-Janes made representations to the County Planning Department that the townspeople should be compensated.
